Introduction to the History of the United States

;This course introduces students to key moments in the history of the United States, from the colonial era to the twenty-first century. A selection of major political, social, and economic developments is divided into four periods: 1) From the colonial era to the American Revolution; 2) From the American Revolution to the Civil War; 3) From the Civil War to World War II; 4) From World War II to present.Organisation du cours : 12h CM (1h / semaine) + 18h TD (1h30 / semaine)

- To understand the colonial origins of the United States, the diversity of its population, the birth of its political institutions, the expansion of its territory, the growth of its economy, the development of an “American way of life,” and the major challenges the U.S. faces today

- To be familiar with a selection of key events, people, and notions in U.S. history

- To be familiar with the geography of the United States

- Session 1 : une épreuve sur table en 1 h 30

- Seconde chance (session 2) : une évalution orale de 10 minutes

- Compréhension et expression écrite en anglais sur des thématiques en lien avec la société états-unienne

- Méthodologie de rédaction en anglais
