Description

This course provides an introduction to UK family law. It covers a variety of topics from the following list: the definition of family; the public-private divide; marriage and divorce; spousal rights and duties; parenthood, adoption; parental rights and duties, children’s rights; domestic violence; family financial disputes and succession.
It deals with the recent evolutions of family law and the emergence of new legal concepts such as “the right to respect for private and family life” or “child welfare”. It also addresses such questions as the impact of feminist studies on the discipline, the Europeanisation of family law or the impact of multiculturalism on family law.
