Description
Programme: The field of Intellectual Property Law is of growing contemporary importance. This is particularly true of copyright. The course aims to give a thorough introduction to substantive Copyright Law in the United Kingdom: as well as dealing with the protection of literary, dramatic, musical and artistic works, the course deals with entrepreneurial copyright works – sound recordings, films and broadcasts.. The course also covers the law of patents in the United Kingdom. It includes an introduction to the economic and historical background to patents. There is then a detailed examination of the law of patentability (novelty, inventive step, industrial application and subject matter) in the United Kingdom and at the European Patent Office. This is followed with an examination of the rules for the construction of patent claims and the law relating to patent infringement.
