Spatial controversies in the Anthropocene

Environmental crises keep worsening as time elapses since the inception of the Industrial Revolution, revealing how unsustainable lifestyles and economic systems are in the contemporary era. This poses great challenges to the traditional ways fossil-based economies have been functioning, especially in urbanism, transport and utility planning or the agriculture. In such an uncertain context, comparing the options at hand to try and limit the damage done to our environment efficiently is not an easy task. Hence, in this course, we'll be dealing with intricate controversies about how to plan and inhabit our land, that emerge at local, urban, societal or international levels when attempting to tackle socioecological challenges.
